The First LS1 Based 9-Second Street Car!

In April of 2004, our 1999 Trans-am was named Hot Rod Magazines quickest naturally aspirated LS1 in the world. We accomplished this task with a 436 cubic inch solid roller power plant coupled to a Rossler turbo 400 trans and a Strange 12 Bolt out back. Below are a few photos of the motor and installation.

We relocated the coil packs underneath the cowl to make room for the larger rocker covers. This was not an easy task.

The heavily modified LS6 heads. Adjustable rocker gear necessary for the solid roller cam shaft.

Engine Partially Installed Technician installs C5R rocker covers.

Note that this is normally aspirated on a TH-400 transmission without a lock-up torque converter. We hit 548 rear wheel horsepower on this pass. .
